Waiting for Summer

She's just waiting for the summertime when the weathers fine
She could hitch a ride out of town
And get away.
But now she just sits with her eyes on the rain.
There’s a clatter of dishes
And her mother says something
But it’s lost on her.
She’s far away,
Dreaming of where she could be
And what she could do,
The things she could see and
What she could become.
The days fade
Every one just as gray
As the days before.
But still she hopes
And dreams,
Just waiting for the summertime when the weathers fine
She could hitch a ride out of town
And get away.
